Massive Attack are an alternative hip-hop, trip-hop and experimental band that formed in 1988 in Bristol, United Kingdom. The band consists of members Robert "3D" Del Naja ("D") and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall ("G"). The duo are performing at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, on Thursday, 16 October, 2014, with the venue having a capacity of up to 5,800 people.

Background on The Greek Theatre
The Greek Theatre is located in Griffith Park, and has a capacity of close to 6,000 people. The venue
is famous for hosting some of the biggest headlining acts from around the world, including Jack Johnson, Sting, Carlos Santana, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam and The White Stripes.

The theatre was built in 1929, and besides hosting some of the biggest concerts in Los Angeles, the theatre acts as a backdrop for many major motion pictures (such as Get Him To The Greek) and TV shows.

Massive Attack have sold over 11 million copies of their 5 studio albums, and have won numerous awards throughout their 26 year career, including Best British Dance Act at the Brit Awards, MTV Awards and two Q Awards. In a poll conducted by New Musical Express (NME), their single Unfinished Sympathy was voted the 63rd greatest song of all time.

Shara Nelson provides vocals on this song, which is considered to be an innovator in the trip hop genre. The song was later covered by Tina Turner. It was the second single to be released from the bands album, Blue Lines, in 1991, and achieved immense commercial success and critical acclaim.

Their albums Blue Lines and Mezzanine have been included in the list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Times by Rolling Stone Magazine. The band’s musical style incorporates elements of distorted guitars, orchestral arrangements, looped basslines, and psychedelic inclusions.
