Urban Cone | Sadness Disease

There's no shying away from the early Phoenix reconciliations, yet Swedish troupe Urban Cone bring their own flare to their jangly, high energy synth-pop. Returning with their latest single Sadness Disease the five-piece offer everything but what the track's title suggests as we're thrown head-first in to some of the happiest and fun melodies I've heard in recent months. Whilst the lyrics remain darlky-tinged the band manage to bring light in to the world as they transform our mood in seconds with feelgood rhythms aplenty. Perfect when the British weather's returned to its miserable self. ’Sadness Disease’ is the first single taken from Urban Cone’s forthcoming album – due out next year through Polydor. Speaking on the release bandmate Rasmus Flyckt goes on to say: “In Sweden where we come from, its dark so much of the year, cold too. It affects your experience of the world in many ways. We write music in an attempt to create sunshine; it’s a reactionary impulse to create light out of the darkness. If you listen to the lyrics of our music, they’re quite dark. It’s serious music that’s made for dancing.”
