Half Moon Run - Trust

I always seem to get that heart in mouth feeling when an artist who's had such a profound effect on me emerges with new music. Knowing everyone has to adapt and evolve from what they once were, it often brings a nervous moment to the surface as I'm left wondering if I'll be equally won over the second time around. As Canada's Half Moon Run look set to follow up their debut album 'Dark Eyes', Trust gives us a wonderful first insight in to what lays ahead for 'Sun Leads Me On', their forthcoming second album.

Filled with Devon Portielje's lofty vocals and the bands jittering melodies, it's heady synth-laden backdrop delivers a whole new approach to their song writing structure. A departure for sure from their clean cut guitars and linear rhythms, Trust looks to bridge new gaps between a whole multitude of genre's and experimental styles. “Trust is somewhat of a strange song” explains multi-instrumentalist Dylan Phillips. “It's a departure from what you might normally expect from us. It's the last song we wrote and recorded, and it was put together with a lot of fragmented ideas and somewhat of a chaotic energy. It feels a little bit like starting from the end, but leaves plenty of room to work back towards the beginning.” Take a listen for yourselves below.
