Wy - Pavements

Returning with what is surely their most immediate to date, Swedish duo Wy last week unveiled their stunning new single, Pavements. A departing sound from their previous releases, the track retains the key features that made me fall in love with their music yet expands them in new and experimental ways. Accompanied by an official video featuring vocalist/front woman Ebba, the track's progressive energy drives from a pulsating arpeggiated synth line before unleashing its wavy guitars and high fire percussion. "While recording the studio version of the song our friend Joar told me that it sounded like someone punching", explains Ebba on the video. "I immediately saw myself boxing in the air to it and so we made it the video. When we recorded the footage I tried to mimic how I moved and felt while recording the vocals. I think the act of boxing captures the feeling of the song perfectly, especially when I can’t really box. There is a weirdness to it that I like." Take a listen/watch below.
