Having recently caught London via Dublin City newcomers Kissing on Camera at Bristol's Dot to Dot Festival, and subsequently being one of my favourite discoveries of the weekend, the band have today shared their debut EP, Baby Names. Forging a bold, visceral sound, they effortlessly fuse jagged guitars and emotionally charged vocals with an unyielding energy that seamlessly blends elements of emo, indie, and alt-rock influence as they snap between melodic nuances and an all out onslaught of guitars. Detailing their EP release, frontman Josh Rosney explained: “Our EP ‘Baby Names’ is the first real representation of us as a band and me as a songwriter. It's got some softer moments like on ‘Just a Kid’ but it's mostly that kinda nostalgic, fuzzed out emo sound, which is pretty true to us. I wrote most of the songs in the first couple of months after I moved to London. I didn't really know what I was gonna do with them at that stage, but something about the move made me feel quite inspired to start writing something. I had never really written music like this before but it seemed like it made sense at the time. Most of the lyrics are about various experiences I've had, some quite mundane and some bigger topics. Things like; growing up and the relationships that come with it, my inner monologue, all the classics really.” Take a listen for yourselves below.
