Returning with a third taster of their upcoming second album, From The Pyre, set to be released on the 17th October 2025 through Island Records, The Last Dinner Party have unveiled the brilliant Second Best. Penned by TLDP guitarist Emily Roberts, the track explores the familiar theme of being consumed by obsession, betrayed by the object of your affection, yet drawn back to them despite it all - love clouding judgment every step of the way. “I wish I could go back and say to myself that I am worth more than that, and that no one needs to accept being second best,” Emily says of the track. “I hope that the song captures the pain, anger and despair I felt but most importantly the defiance and satisfaction I now have in being able to immortalise this person in a song and to look back on the situation with more maturity.” Take a listen below.
