Osca | Illume

Bringing splashes of colour to the grey swatch of cloud populating the skies, London's Osca return with some much needed optimism. Hot off the back of their phenomenal single, Blood, the New Cross four-piece deliver another fine serving of heart-raising pop as Jack Kenworthy's grandeur vocals conjure up a spectacular finesse, glimmering in their crystalline way over the track's gorgeous and breezy chord changes. With each consecutive listen drawing you deeper in to its transfixing spell, surrounded by dainty piano keys and tunnelling percussion raised to dizzying heights, you quickly realise it doesn't take a genius to work out just how special these guys are. Speaking of its release Kenworthy goes on to say: "I remember going to Glastonbury that year when I wrote it and coming back remembering Rolling Stones set ender, Satisfaction, and the way everyone sang along to all the words. I came home and was messing around on the piano, and the chorus came quickly.  I started singing 'I illume" for no reason. It's not a word you hear often but it fit the melody, feeling bright and colourful". Stream Illume above.
