As far as debuts go, London by way of Bahrain quartet Sheikh put forward a pretty strong case with their single Fonda. Built around its alluring synth-work comes a gorgeous offering of rattling guitars and cut-throat percussion all bundled together in to one ambitious first step in to our musical world. With Ian Dowling (Jungle, Bombay Bicycle Club) on production duties their in pretty safe hands as everything slices through the mix just the way it was intended to do so. I'm not one to gaze in to my crystal ball but I think we'll be hearing a lot more from Sheikh in the coming new year. In the meantime be sure to stream Fonda above.
