Kid Brunswick - 4am

Inviting us in to his personal story of rehab and recovery, West London-based artist Kid Brunswick shares his emotively-charged effort 4am. Written after a sobering period of self reflection, the track's candidly poised lyrics only add to its hard hitting effect as its superimposed guitars compliment its soulful complexion. Kid Brunswick explains “i wrote this song a couple months after leaving rehab and getting sober for the first time... cigarettes and sex were the only things keeping me from relapsing back into drug addiction.”Take a listen for yourselves below as he looks set to build on last year's exploratory mixtape “we surround ourselves with chaos”.

Two Another - Stronger

Making it a hat-trick of releases this year, rising duo Two Another return with their latest single, Stronger. Much like its namesake the track packs a formidable punch with its rolling, soul-filled backdrop and silk smooth vocals. Speaking on the track, Two Another states: "Stronger, like many of our tracks, was born out of collaboration. We had been working on an idea very different from the final record before Luke Wynter played a bass part - we then rearranged the instrumental around his bass groove, adding a more sparse programmed drum machine beat. Lyrically the song addresses our romanticised expectations of adulthood and that moment you realise no one is there to hold your hand and you need to carve out your own path. No one has all the answers to the questions being asked, it is ok to be vulnerable and to ask for help". Take a listen for yourselves below.

Boy In Space - 7UP

Where would pop music be today without it's fair share of heartbreak? It's a conjoined pair that have been hand in hand for as long as time itself, and Swedish singer Robin Lundbäck knows this all too well. "7UP is very simply about how love isn’t easy" he explains under his monkier Boy in Space, "The lyrics portray this feeling in the context of your everyday neighbourhood house party. Sometimes, we can get so caught-up with being in love that we let someone hurt us." Cathartic, rich in sadness and encased with emotive energy, 7UP is a timeless exploration of honesty and passion through its soft vocals and futuristic melodies. Take a listen for yourselves below.

Blood Sugar - Do You Wanna Get Mine

Having had the single on repeat since it first dropping in my inbox, Blood Sugar has today unveiled his seductive Do You Wanna Get Mine. Fronted by singer Jack Saturn, there's not a whole lot of info currently available on the mysterious project, but that doesn't hold back on the music's exceptional depth. With its RnB stylistics, Do You Wanna Get Mine is a soul searching anthem that's as forward thinking as it is nostalgic, drawing deep in to the influence of the 80's. Take a listen to the track for yourself below. It's clear to see why it's been brandished as a "contemporary Prince and Marvin Gaye love-child with a hint of Jill Scott".

MAX RAD - Rumours

London newcomer MAX RAD returns today with his stunning new single Rumours. Doused in rousing electronica, the track ebbs and flows with real purpose towards its swanky choruses, dipping you into and out of soulful euphoria. Of the track, Max says - "It’s about the power of words and how they can be so destructive. How much chaos can come from something said". Take a listen for yourselves below.

WIINSTON - Substance

Copenhagen duo WIINSTON created a huge storm for themselves last year when they unveiled a string of promising single's including Canada, Rosa and Lala. Set to follow it up here on fine form, the pair return with their latest effort, Substance, dishing up equal measures of darkened RnB melodies and moody stylistics. "It’s those long nights you’d rather spend by yourself cause you feel less alone in complete silence" explain the pair on the songs execution. Continuing, "We paint the picture with feelings and moods and just play around until we like it. It all comes to us very intuitively and fast, and the lyrics are shaped as pictures before they are written down". The single will be officially released tomorrow but you can now stream the audio below now. Check it out.

Blood Orange shares Charcoal Baby & Jewelry videos

Photo: Nick Harwood

When Blood Orange returned at the start of the week with news of his fourth studio album 'Negro Swan' I was quite upset to find no music accompanying the announcement. Today Dev Hynes more than redeems himself by dropping not one but two videos taken from the upcoming release. Both unique, Charcoal baby shows off his soulful jazz influences with its grooving beat whereas Jewelry takes down the tempo a notch with soft ushered vocals and spacious melodies. "My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of colour." Hynes explains. A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all.  The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of HOPE, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness". Take a watch below for yourselves.

Blood Orange's Negro Swan will be released on Domino on August 24, 2018.

Seramic - Strange Magic

Blog favourite Seramic returns today with his exceptional new single, Strange Magic. Still living in the cloak of his music persona, little's still known about the artist except for the fact he makes some pretty fine music. With its silk smooth production and nostalgic melodies, his latest effort is a perfect representation of everything he stands for - think jazz-infused RnB of the finest degree. "Strange Magic is about being caught in a spell" explains singer-songwriter-producer Seramic,"It's about being enticed and helplessly mesmerised by someone". Listen below.

Langston Francis - These Nights

Langston Francis was first brought to my attention back in April with his sensational single Fall From Grace. Life often has a funny way of getting in the way of extra curricula tasks though and only now I've getting around to writing about the Toronto based artist. Since then he's dropped another fresh cut, the latest being These Nights, a slow tempo intimate release of emotion through its repentant vocals and brooding production. At just 16 his talent is insanely impressive and this latest effort goes a long way to demonstrating. Take a listen to These Nights below along with his previous single Fall From Grace.

Maximillian - Hollow Days

2017 was a whirlwind year to say the least for Denmark's pop-wunderkind Maximillian. From his debut single Feelings, the young Dane has shot through the ranks to become one of the most excitable new artists to release music in a long long time. Now signed to Virgin EMI in the UK he only looks set to project his emotionally charged sound further than ever before. His latest single Hollow Days is the first new music on the label and sees his darkened take on pop indulge us like we're used to with plenty more sweeping synth pad textures and articulated vocal strides. He goes on to explain "Hollow Days is about fighting your own mixed emotions and how you sometimes leave certain important parts of your life out – and then realize that living without it makes you hollow. This is a note to self – a reminder, not to give up on what I’ve got so easily". Take a listen for yourselves below with the track's official video.

Easton - Blue Love

Texas-born Los Angeles-based artist, Easton Schirra, today shares his soulfully produced debut, Blue Love. Having pursued his creative flair through photography, whilst in New York Easton soon realised he had a talent for songwriting and soon a new project was devised. "This song is about drowning in love and the swelling of emotions" he explains. "Holding your breath, sinking deeper and letting it wash over you until you’re drenched".  Take a listen for yourselves below as the track's subdued basslines and arresting melodies steadily take hold.

Weslee - Sweet Dreams

Arriving fashionably late to the party, today I finally got around to listening to production/songwriting duo Weslee's new single, Sweet Dreams. Premiered on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show last week, the track takes the pair's seductive RnB vibe to a whole new level with a collection of glitchy sounds and slinky laid back melodies. Having topped the Spotify viral charts with streams now in their millions, 2018 looks set to be an exciting year as the pair set about releasing their debut EP this June. Take a listen to their latest effort below.

Colin Magalong - Melo

Working through some older emails and Colin Magalong's recent single Melo instantly caught my attention. It's effortlessly cool and comes perfectly poised for the warm weather the UK basked in over the weekend. Sadly, that all seems like a distant memory now, but at least we can close our eyes and reminisce with this soundtrack. Take a listen below.

Aeris Roves - Best Dressed Man

A quick search online reveals London based artist Aeris Roves has already released an iPhone recorded demo last month of his latest single, Best Dressed Man. The track was sparse but effortlessly showcased his super silk vocals, offering a vulnerable insight in to his sound with the creak of each guitar strum and ambient background noise. Here he returns with the fully produced version and it's safe to say it delivers in every sense of the word. With a swell of atmospheric synth pads, the track wastes no time in getting to work with his soulful advancement and punchy electronic percussion. Take note of the name Aeris Roves. I have no doubt in saying it'll be one you'll be hearing a lot more about in the coming months.

John.k - Best of Me

As pop, soul and RnB continue to dominate our music scene, standing out form the crowd is becoming harder than ever before. It's a good job John.k knows exactly what buttons to push when it comes to asserting his presence to excel above the rest with his elevated sound. "'Best of Me' is about evolving through young love, admitting to past mistakes and committing to giving someone the best possible version of yourself." he explains. Best of Me is streaming below. Kevin George - High Like This

On a rare Friday night that I find myself at a computer with a few hours to spare, it makes sense to trawl through my blog emails, although, I wasn't quite so prepared for a discovery of such quality. His debut offering, bedroom-producer Kevin George makes his bold first steps in to our world with the stunningly thought out single High Like This. Speaking on the track Kevin George says: "High Like This came to me during a dark time in my life .. It felt like my world was closing in on me . This girl turned me down & that's what came out ". It's taken from his upcoming project entitled 'LOVELAND'. Be sure to hear a lot more from this newcomer.

Grace Carter - Ashes (Official Video)

When a genre gets saturated in mediocre releases, it takes real talent to stand out. Grace Carter has such in abundance as her latest track so evidently displays. "It’s a song about the frustration and need to get over someone but not quite having the strength to do so yet. Working with someone like Mike Dean who has worked on some of my favourite records was an honour". Her debut EP is out release next spring. Take a listen to Ashes below for yourselves.

Refs - Fool

Returning with their brand new single today, NYC duo Refs share the exceptional fool, the band's follow up to their recent track Spotlight. Renown for their forward thinking RnB-tinged pop, the electronic pair present another stellar effort with plenty more demonstration of their soulful vocals and rich production values. "Fool is the heir to 'Pain Goes Away' – it's that two way street of being in a relationship, both sides of the coin, the with and the without." explains Zachary Lipkins. Take a listen for yourselves below.
