Philadelphia-based art-folk project @, comprised of multi-instrumentalist songwriters Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, have returned with their brand-new single Autosmile. Signing to 4AD, the pair will release their second LP of the same name on 16th October. This latest offering gives an exciting taste of what's to come through intertwining vocals and intricate guitar layerings, presented below in an endearing live performance video. As the band says, “Really excited to have this song out; it took a while and a few tries to capture in the way we wanted, and we hope you enjoy it.” Take a listen below.

Danish indie-folk newcomer Wynd marks his exceptional entrance through new single The Shores. Recorded on a weathered 4-track cassette recorder, its tender approach feeds in to its soft nuances as luscious guitar melodies envelop his sound. Speaking about the track he goes on to share, “Love is memory, nostalgia and reflection-especially when it’s gone. ‘The Shores’ captures the urge to reach out, the hope that you might find your way back to each other. But within that hope lies the realization that it can be just as painful and destructive as the longing itself. Indie-rock/folk artist Truman Sinclair has this week shared his new single ‘dustland’, out now via Capitol Records/Polydor Label Group. Built on a looping guitar riff, the song’s twangy melodies and raw vocals weave a coming-of-age story with striking clarity and poetic grace. "dustland’ is about coming of age and finding something to fight for in the chaos," says Truman. He also shared a poem about the new song:

A hard concrete cancer 
creeping towards the ocean 
the mother
the green 
The machines scream 
The towers gleam 
Rubble in the trees 
The water is boiling 
Feeling stupid holding my sign 
Nonetheless begging my species 
Not for my sake

Norwegian singer-songwriter, Selma French returned ahead of the weekend with her new single, Little Sisters and Friends, released on hip Oslo indie, Hype City on Thu 6 February 2025. Taken from her upcoming, second album, No Sign Of Rotten Leaves, which arrives with us in April, the track's haunting and tender delivery sees a beautiful folk arrangement come to life through its rousing instrumentation and glacial vocals. Speaking about the single she goes on to say “I wrote this song on a borrowed electric guitar. It was missing a string and was very squeaky sounding,but it was natural match. Writing this song on this guitar marked the beginning of writing my second album. With a name you're unlikely to forget, and a sound like no other, Naarm/Melbourne locals Folk Bitch Trio have today shared their brilliant new single God’s A Different Sword. Making exceptional use of their layered three-way vocal harmonies and blissful folk-centric melodies, the track serves as another exciting addition to their already impressive repertoire. Speaking about the new single they explain “‘God’s A Different Sword’ speaks to relinquishing a pattern, but indulging in the habit ‘just one more time’. The song was produced by us and Tom Healy during a fleeting stop in Auckland, Aotearoa this winter, while we were in town supporting Ben Howard. The lyrics are exasperated and questioning, so we wanted them to be held by instrumentation that is optimistic and open. Australian folk singer Hazlett has recently released his emotively-charged new single Shiver via Nettwerk, taken from his upcoming new 6-Track EP out 4th October, which will see him complete his Goodbye to the Valley Low-project. Making exceptional use of the track's space comes a heart wrenching 3 minute 34 ode to self reflection as he questions the control he has on life's choices. Speaking about the single, Hazlett says, ‘I’ve always had this tug-o-war in my head of how much control do I really have of my life? Do I have to be petrified of every decision I make? Or do I just say whatever will be will be and sit back? I think to some extent whatever path we take life has a funny way of taking us to our destination anyway. But that only happens when we’re led by our gut, we have good intentions and we’re not scared to make the wrong choice. Sometimes it is just about choosing a door to open and being irrationally confident that the universe will guide you to where you need to go either way.’ Speaking further about the album's conception he shares, ‘Truth be told there was never meant to be a Side B to Goodbye to the Valley Low, but the more that I tried moving on from it the more I kept getting pulled back,’ Hazlett explains. ‘I think being out there in the cabin brought out a lot of initial feelings that I worked through and then after that I was left with all these half thoughts and feelings that needed a little more work to figure out. Which might be why it sounds a little bit darker at times. If Side A was the curiosity of the cabin then Side B is working through all the questions that it left behind.’

Following a debut release last year, Cardiff-based singer-songwriter Olive Grinter returns in 2024 with her second single ‘Murmurations’, a track deeply rooted in its earthly nuances and ethereally pleasing melodies. Beautifully played, the track's softly plucked guitar notes and swooning vocals slowly build in to an all encompassing masterpiece that's delivered in fine detail. In her own words she explains, “The word ‘murmuration’ is used to describe the dance of flocks of starlings. Their chaotic yet harmonious movements are entrancing. I like to think they emulate the mayhem of everyday life. If you were to step inside a murmuration it would be  horrifically loud, turbulent and fast-paced. However, step back and watch it from afar and you witness one of the most peaceful, mystical phenomena nature has to give. Returning with their new single Milk & Honey, Brisbane indie-folk duo HOLLOW COVES share the importance of enjoying the immediacy in life as the pair deliver a heart-warming effort. From its soft guitar strums to joy filled choruses and catchy melodies, the track deliverds a sensational feel-good energy that continues to linger long after it's played. A perfect pick-me-up for these darker winter nights. Ryan Henderson explains: “I picked up my guitar and we just started improvising melodies together and loads just flowed out. Just a couple of Ryans making music together. It wasn’t until later that Matt and I sat down with the melodies and started to write lyrics to them.” Paying homage to the idea of living life in the moment instead of waiting for a sign, or the right moment, to appreciate what matters, Ryan adds: “The melodies inspired us to write about how easy it can be to get caught in the hustle. American singer-songwriter DEKKER has shared his new single “I Won’t”, ahead of a UK tour this November. Following on from last month's single A Beautiful Day, Scottish songwriter Tommy Ashby returns with his inspiring new effort Not That Far to Go. Prefacing the lockdown, the track served a poignant and self reflective insight in to how to use your time meaningfully. "This song was written just a couple of months before the pandemic and it was surprising how relevant it became when covid came along." he explains. "Suddenly we were sitting at home with quite a lot of time on our hands to think and, for worriers, that isn't always positive. I guess the message of the song is to take stock of all the good things, focus on the present and accept that a lot of the stuff that happens to you is beyond your control. Today sees Scottish songwriter Tommy Ashby return with his warming new single A Beautiful Day. Filled with intricate guitar patterns and luscious folk melodies comes another glittering work of art from the promising musician. Speaking about the track Tommy goes on to say "'A Beautiful Day' describes how your memories can change in the remembering. Your recollection of a beautiful day changes over time, some details fall away and others come more sharply into focus. I also wanted to show how experiences are shaped by your mental state at the time. For example, the final verse describes rain on concrete, which wouldn't be a classically beautiful scene. But the words and music that envelop the scene mean that it is remembered wistfully. The verses describe snapshots of beautiful days, which is often how I remember things. My mind is definitely more of a camera than a video recorder. I grew up playing in a ceilidh band and singing the songs of Robert Burns. But I always felt that being a genuine traditional Scottish folk artist was something else that I couldn't grasp, it was an intimidating world. Any time I tried, I became overwhelmed by imposter syndrome. However, I’ve realised that Scottish trad music is a part of my musical identity, something I shouldn't shy away from. I've always loved it so if it seeps into my music, then I should welcome it rather than trying to ignore or remove it. You can hear folk influences on a beautiful day - the chorus came out of a fiddle tune I was noodling around with on my mandolin. I thought the tune really captured the joyous feel of the lyrics." Returning over the weekend, San Diego based artist Hayden Everett unveiled his stunning new single Kennecott. Whilst we don't need reminding that the country is often in disrepair with the increase of global warming and the human nature of many to destroy the very planet we live on, his latest effort send a gentle reminder to show more appreciation for the wonders of nature. Inspired by and written from the perspective of Kennecott, an Alaskan mining town abandoned in the 1930’s, the track is a protective plea to be in awe of nature rather than exploit it - and it's beautifully captured by his serene accompanying video shot in the Cascade Mountain region. Hoping you can work through it, to give someone all they need as well as you giving them everything that you would need too. Lea Porcelain - I Am Ok

Known for its expansive Techno scene, many would disbelieve this stripped back, atmospheric cut could hail from Berlin, yet what duo Lea Porcelain achieve is nothing short of mesmeric. The pair's latest effort tackles the self-doubt almost everyone feels from time to time and helps restore a little faith that everything's gonna be okay. "The song describes a time in everybody’s life that make you loose faith in yourself, in someone else or in life itself and you just need to hear from someone that one day everything will be ok again. That no matter what, with time and patience we all will be ok". From their upcoming EP, set for release 21st June, take a listen below as its echoing guitars and rolling percussion culminate towards its rousing finale.

Yoke Lore - Chin Up

Taken from his forthcoming ‘Meditations EP’ set for release on May 31st, Yoke Lore returns today unveiling his wonderful new single Chin Up. Speaking about ‘the single’ Galvin explains, "“This song is about fighting fire with love. My little brother was a huge pain in the ass growing up. He would throw these awful tantrums, and I would always want my parents to punish him and throw him in his room and ground him or something, but they never did. They always just tried to listen and comfort him. They told me all you can do in the face of anger is to hit it with compassion, which usually peels away the aggression to reveal a vulnerability. This song is not about my brother who, by the way, turned out very well-adjusted, but it is about the struggle of learning to tamper your reactivity and volatility. Learning to forgive at the drop of a hat. It's a skill I aspire to master." Take a listen for yourselves below.
